Graduation
Once far, has come
But you’ve got nothing to fear
You deserve to be here
So just think about where you’ll be this time next year
If you take my advice
Then the stress is simply a side-effect of the progress
Just the price of the process
Like vindication from a battle won
Sit back and think about the things…
Now that your skin finally fits
Go ahead and grab life by the hips
Don’t be scared ‘cause you’re more than prepared
You’ve been dreaming’ of the real world since you were a little girl
Since your hair was in curls
And graduation
Once far has come
But you’ve got nothing to fear
You deserve to be here
So just think about where you’ll be this time next year
I know that sometimes your mind fires a million times a minute
I know that pressure can be felt when you don’t ask for help
If you take my advice remember that the stress is simply a side-effect, of the progress
If you take my advice
Then the stress is simply a side-effect of the progress
Just the price of the process
Like vindication from all the shit you’ve done
Now you get to sit back and think about how life has just begun
Congratulations to the many out there who are or have recently obtained an educational accolade. I’m sure you all know this by now, considering the fact that you’ve managed to graduate and fulfill your obligations regardless of how tedious they may have been… but I just wanted to pass on a piece of advice that I’ve come up with upon reflecting on my short 24 years on this planet (which includes the 8 years I have spent out of a scholastic institution). It’s no where near profound, not even marginally, in fact it’s ‘back to basics’…
Treat others as you would like to be treated… this means (to me anyway), cut the bullshit and live a genuine existence by speaking the truth and if you don’t know the truth, admit that you aren’t versed on the topic and be willing to listen to those who actually do…Only then will you be able to ask questions that apply to the actual content as opposed to the hypothetical context… I.e. nit picking, getting petty and making personal attacks in response to your own insecurities of feeling dumb/out of the loop.
If you don’t have anything to offer someone, do not front as if you do. It’s okay to not be everything to everyone, it may be better for you to take time to focus on one facet that you excel, we’ll call this you’re foundation and then progressively address the other areas where you would like to improve or put on additions. This way you are able to accomplish your goals with a clear sense of purpose and added value to your foundation, which in the end represents a fulfilled YOU.
Think thoroughly, think safely but at the end of the day, live how you feel.
an XO goes out to Jeff for emailing this acoustic demo my way. Many computers are crazy-capable.
